Construction Products Association Launches KPIs

The Construction Products Association (UK) is piloting a major new initiative to bring together the many sectors within the construction products industry to achieve best practice and improve performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Launching the initial set of KPIs, Rita Singh, Policy Development Executive, said: "We are delighted that ten of our member companies have volunteered to implement the KPIs, which directly address concerns that were identified by both industry and clients, particularly in the areas of customer satisfaction, health and safety, and environmental issues." Explaining the need for KPIs specific to the industry Singh said: "The construction industry KPIs are project based and could not be applied directly to the construction products industry, where approximately 70% of its products are sold via intermediaries."

The initial set of sector specific KPIs are: Customer Satisfaction
  • Improved product quality through less defects
  • Meeting delivery promises
  • Better customer communication
  • Providing after sales service
  • People
  • Health and safety at work
  • Training Operatives/staff
  • Environment
  • Waste reduction on site
  • The Association is working closely with DETR on this initiative, which will contribute to achieving the Government's aims of improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the whole construction industry.

A second set of KPIs, focusing on sustainability and product innovation, is currently being discussed.

The Construction Products Association represents the UK's producers and distributors of construction products, components and fittings. It acts as the voice of the construction products sector, representing the industry-wide view of its members. The Association is committed to demonstrating the importance of a growing, profitable and sustainable construction products sector within the UK economy.
