Large Kaolin Mine in Asia to be Exploited

'China's Refractories' reports that the government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has recently reached an agreement with Shandong Laizhou Gold Corp and Beijing Headmen Consultants Co Ltd which will lead to the launching of an exploitation project at the large kaolin mine situated in Wulanhaote, Inner Mongolia.

Having been explored in August 2004, this kaolin mine is estimated to have the potential for a 150,000tpy to 200,000tpy capacity.

At present, kaolin resources from within China reportedly come close to meeting the demands of lower grade products but nowhere near in the case of high quality goods. It is thought that the exploitation of the massive Wulanhaote kaolin mine will have great significance in this context, helping to relieve the situation of a shortage of high quality Chinese produced kaolin.
