New MD at Herend Porcelain
With the retirement of Jozsef Kovacs, the position of Managing Director at the Herend Porcelain Manufactory (Herend, Hungary) has been filled - as of 17 November - by Sandor Polanyi.
The new head of one of Europe's best known prestige porcelain companies is an engineer and economist by profession. He spent 12 years at Videoton, followed by a stint in the field of telecommunications, where he was a leading figure at various companies. His last position before joining Herend was as Managing Director of Vivendi.
Herend has also announced that, after years of arduous collection and research work, the most comprehensive and beautiful Herend Book to date has been published. This 351-page book, illustrated with 281 colour and 106 mono photos, offers readers a comprehensive and detailed insight into the history and art of Herend porcelain. Its author is Gabriella Balla, an expert based at the Applied Arts Museum, Budapest, Hungary. The photos are by Balazs Csekovsky and Kornel Kovacs.
