HeidelbergCement Streamlines Managing Board
Dr Dominik von Achten, who has been a member of the Managing Board of HeidelbergCement since October 2007, will take on responsibility for the group’s North America area as of 1 January 2009. Until now, he has been primarily in charge of the integration process of Hanson into HeidelbergCement, which has been completed successfully. HeidelbergCement acquired Hanson last year.
Together, the United States and Canada are HeidelbergCement’s strongest countries in terms of turnover and sales volumes. “With around 670 production sites, we have very strong market positions in the US and Western Canada,“ explained Dr von Achten. “Our product range includes cement, aggregates, concrete, asphalt and a variety of building products such as concrete pipes, roof tiles and bricks. We expect the announced economic stimulus package with a main focus on infrastructure and road construction to have a significant impact on our business.”
Managing Board member Alan Murray, who is currently in charge of the North America area, will retire at the end of 2008.
In addition to the Chairman of the Managing Board, Dr Bernd Scheifele and CFO, Dr Lorenz Näger, four Managing Board members – Dr Dominik von Achten, Daniel Gauthier, Andreas Kern and Dr Albert Scheuer – will be in charge of HeidelbergCement’s Group areas as of January 2009. Thereby, the number of the Managing Board members will be reduced from seven to six.
