Further Multi-Million Dollar Order for Ceradyne

Ceradyne Inc (Costa Mesa, CA, USA) announced on 26 November 2003 that it had received releases from a government agency totalling approximately US$9 million for its ceramic body armour systems to protect certain elite US military personnel, as part of an indefinite quantity contract announced in March 1998, scheduled to run through 2003 but now extended into 2005.

A "release" related to indefinite quantity government contracts is treated by the company as an order when it receives a firm delivery schedule. Under these orders, Ceradyne expects to begin shipping in December 2003 and complete shipments in 2004.

CEO Joel Moskowitz commented: "We are pleased to continue supplying ceramic body armor systems to protect these elite U.S. forces, especially under current heightened defense needs. These orders and extended long-term contracts are different and separate from the large orders for small arms protective inserts (SAPI) the Company recently announced".

Ceradyne develops, manufactures and markets advanced technical ceramic products and components for defence, industrial, automotive/diesel and commercial applications.
