Bolt Technical Ceramics Offers Ceramic Thermal Protection Tubes

The Bolt Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Ceramics (MAC) offers thermal protective sheathing tubes composed of high performance aluminium oxide (alumina) and aluminium silicate (mullite). These ceramic tubes protect sensitive thermocouples in high temperature and highly corrosive environments, such as in reactors employed in chemical processing applications.

Bolt Technical Ceramics, located in Fairfield, NJ, USA, supplies these high performance alumina and mullite thermal protective sheathing tubes, which are manufactured in MAC’s Haldenwanger facilities in Germany. Protective tubes consisting of Alsint 99.7 (99.7% alumina) are designed to ensure reliable measurement and process control, even given the stress that can arise due to corrosion and abrasion combined with very high temperatures (up to 1800°C).

Thermal protective tubes comprised of PYTHAGORAS, a mullite ceramic, provide a more cost-effective solution for slightly lower working temperatures. The PYTHAGORAS material is said to provide excellent resistance to chemical attack and thermal shock and is suitable for working temperatures up to 1500°C.

The protective tubes are available in gas-tight or porous versions, in both SAE and metric dimensions.
