Ceramic Art & Design Volume Published

'The Ceramic Process' is the documented result of years of technical and artistic research at the European Ceramic Work Centre (EKWC) in 's-Hertogenbosch, Holland. The book focuses on the professional visual artist and designer. By portraying the entire process from the formation of ideas right through to their execution, both the content and the technical aspects are powerfully linked together.

To do this, use is made of the EKWC's broad knowledge and experience, in both an artistic and technical sense, acquired through supervising artists and designers who might have good ideas but usually do not have the necessary technical knowledge.

Added to this, the book does not simply focus on a single discipline, whether ceramics (as applied art), fine art or design. It shows that the interdisciplinary approach the centre takes on a daily basis is enormously productive.

'The Ceramic Process', written by Anton Reijnders, is a practical book. It is described as a comprehensive A-Z manual covering the entire ceramic process from start to finish. It is a practical look at materials, methods and equipment and gives details of new discoveries and methods that originated at the EKWC, using the results of various artists' projects to beautifully illustrate the text and show how these methods have been used.

The book, carrying the ISBN 0-7136-6768-0, is published by A&C Black and has 320 pages and 180 colour photos. The usual price of the book is 75 euro but there is a special introductory offer on EKWC's e-shop where the book will available for just 45 euro until 30 June 2006.
