Almatis CEO Turns Over Leadership

Almatis (Frankfurt, Germany) has announced that as of 28 November 2006, Oscar Groomes has stepped down from his position as CEO of Almatis. Mr Groomes will assume a new role within the group as a non-executive board member, following his decision to relocate to the USA due to personal reasons.

Hervé de Carmoy has reassumed the role of Executive Chairman to lead the company’s top management team and effect a smooth transition. Furthermore, Almatis expects to appoint a Chief Operating Officer who will assume full day-to-day management responsibility for all business areas in early 2007.

"The key to a successful transition lies in having built a solid foundation of growth and profitability. Over the past two years as CEO, Oscar Groomes has turned Almatis into a growing enterprise and truly global organization. We look forward to a continued relationship as he joins the board. The top management team of Almatis will continue to expand customer service and industrial excellence, thus extending value to our customers, stakeholders and business partners around the world," said Hervé de Carmoy.

Almatis is a global leader in the development, manufacture and supply of high quality speciality alumina products. With nearly 900 employees world-wide, the company’s products are used in a wide variety of industries including steel production, cement production, non-ferrous metal production, plastics, paper, ceramics, carpet manufacturing and electronic industries.
