Waterford Wedgwood acquires Hutschenreuther brand


The Board of Waterford Wedgwood has confirmed that through its German porcelain subsidiary Rosenthal AG, agreement in principle has been reached with the Administrator and the Chief Executive of Winterling AG, the parent company of Hutschenreuther, to acquire this well respected German fine porcelain tableware and giftware brand.

The Hutschenreuther brand, which represents less than 5% of Waterford Wedgwood Group sales, will complement Waterford Wedgwood's Rosenthal brand group, which also includes Studio Line, Classic and Thomas as well as Versace and Bulgari by Rosenthal. Together, the combined brands will, says the group, capture the largest single share of Germany's fine porcelain market.

Waterford Wedgwood will announce interim results for the six months to 30 June 2000 on 23 August 2000. Further details will be announced at that time.
