New Slimline Signal Converters

Tempatron Ltd (Reading, Berks, England) has introduced the new TS range of 12mm-wide slim-line, DIN-rail signal converters.

The most basic version is used to convert an RTD input to either 4-20mA or 1-5Vdc, with optional Galvanic isolation between input and output signals.

More comprehensive functions are available from the mid-range models, which enable slide switch selection of input types, including thermocouple, RTD or analogue, and temperature ranges from -200°C to +3000°C.

The most sophisticated models are said to offer universal functionality by enabling programming through a PC using a proprietary WindowsTM-based 'Prosoft' software package. These versions can be programmed to convert temperature or other control parameters such as pressure, flow or pH levels, using the analogue input/output ranges. Both standard and galvanically isolated versions are available.

The TS range is designed to be used in conjunction with transducers which would otherwise be incompatible with the equipment.
