Countdown to Tecnargilla 2006

This year’s Tecnargilla, the 20th staging of the renowned international exhibition of technologies and supplies for the ceramic and heavy clay industries will, says organiser RiminiFiera, be a showcase of innovation and creativity. The event will be held in the Rimini exhibition centre from 28 September to 2 October and will occupy a gross exhibition space of 90,000 sq.m. out of a total exhibition centre of 109,000 sq.m., 7,000 sq.m. more than at the last show. There will be more than 800 exhibitors from all over the world. The organisers added that this year’s figures confirm the growth trend over recent editions: exhibition space has increased by 124% over the last five shows held between 1995 and 2004, while attendance has risen by 60.6% over the same period. More than 30,000 visitors are expected this year.

"The variety of technological innovations that will be on show this year are a clear indication of competitive strength," declares Pierluigi Ponzoni, Chairman of Acimac (Italian Ceramic Plant and Machinery Manufacturers’ Association). "This is a fundamental characteristic that allows companies to be more aggressive in their reference markets. Tecnargilla, the ultimate showcase of innovation, will combine technology and research in exhibiting new products with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and customer care. I believe that this combination of quality and attention to customers’ requirements is one of the most effective formulas for success in global markets."

The ceramic tile production technology sector will be offering innovative solutions to the key market requirements of lower production costs, plant flexibility and an increasing focus on large sizes. New technologies catering for these requirements will be on display at Tecnargilla. Examples of machinery on display will include new press decoration and in-line decoration systems as well as the new no-contact digital techniques. Seen by many as the new frontier in decoration, this latter technology is characterised by considerably smaller systems than the current decoration plants and will allow for the use of colours such as micronised pigments.

New technology for the shaping segment will include alternatives to traditional presses such as extrusion systems in place of traditional tile pressing systems. Considerable progress has also been made in traditional pressing technology, particularly in terms of increased production capacity. At the next Tecnargilla we can expect to see presses with a free clearance between columns of up to 2450mm as part of an ongoing trend that has been underway for several years.

Tecnargilla is expanding in particular in the area of innovation with the debut of Kermat, the section devoted to advanced ceramic products. The section will host raw materials, components and semi-finished products, special ceramic articles and concrete examples of their applications, as well as technological processes, control instruments and plants for the production of nanoceramic materials.

Claytech will be back again this year with more than 80 exhibitors representing the heavy clay sector. Trends, colour and fashion will be explored at Kromatech, the area devoted to colour and creativity in the ceramic industry. The doubled exhibition space will feature an increased international presence, with leading companies providing know-how and technologies for ceramic decoration. Tecnargilla represents both innovation and creativity. This duality is epitomised by the Ceramic Workshop, a series of ancillary events designed to provide fresh ideas and stimuli for new fields of application of ceramic in the homes and cities of the future.

The show will be hosting the fourth 'Ceramic TTD, Technology Transfer Day on ceramic materials, processes and plant' devoted to scientific research and technology transfer in the ceramic sector. The Ceramic TTD offers researchers, businesses, research institutes and universities that have proposed or requested innovative technologies the opportunity to make contact with ceramic sector companies from all over the world and establish business-oriented and technological collaborations in the field of new technologies and applications or set up partnerships to implement research that is already in progress. In particular, there will be a series of ancillary events including conferences and exhibitions.
