Siam Cement Group Reports Operating Results for Q2/2009 and H1/2009
Siam Cement Group (SCG) of Thailand, parent of Thai Ceramic Roof Tile, Thai Ceramic Co, Cementhai Ceramics and Siam Ceramic Group Industries amongst others, has announced operating performance of the second quarter and first half of fiscal 2009 showing improvement from the last quarter. Sales of High Value Added Products & Services (HVA) on total net sales show outstanding results. The group said it was cautiously moving forward with its key strategies.Kan Trakulhoon, President & CEO of SCG, disclosed the unreviewed consolidated financial statements of SCG for the second quarter of fiscal year 2009 (Q2/09), which showed net sales of 56.880 billion Baht, an increase of 3% q-o-q, but decreased 29% y-o-y, due to lower prices of chemicals and paper product. The consolidated net profit registered 6.837 billion Baht, an increase of 32% q-o-q with better performance from the chemicals, paper and building materials businesses, but decreased 5% y-o-y due to the slowdown in global economy.
For the first half of 2009 (H1/09), SCG recorded net sales of 112.091 billion Baht, a decrease of 29% y-o-y due to lower core businesses prices, while net profit decreased 16% y-o-y to 12.025 billion Baht due to the slower global economy.
The total assets of SCG as of 30 June 2009 amounted to 300.441 billion Baht.
The Board of Directors has approved an interim dividend payment of 3.5 Baht per share, amounting to 4.2 billion Baht, and this is payable on 27 August 2009 with the book having closed on 13 August 2009.
