Profits Up at Siam Cement


The Siam Cement Group (SCG), Bangkok, Thailand - whose Building Products Business includes significant ceramic factories in the area - has just announced the financial results for the second quarter and the first six months of 2005, citing better performance in most business units. The company said it was proposing an interim dividend payment of 7.5 Baht per share.

Mr Chumpol NaLamlieng, President of The Siam Cement Public Company Ltd (SCC), disclosed the unreviewed consolidated financial statements for SCC and subsidiaries for Q2 2005, which showed total sales of 53.739 billion Baht, representing a 19% increase from Q2 2004. The net profit was 8.721 billion Baht, representing an increase of 13% over the same period of the previous year.

Similarly, for the first half of 2005, total sales amounted to 110.904 billion Baht (up 24%) while net profit reached 18.718 billion Baht, also up 24%.

The Building Products Business, smallest of the manufacturing divisions, recorded total sales for the first half of 2005 of 11.816 billion Baht, an increase of 13% over H1 2004.
