SAMA to Show Newly Developed Systems for Tableware Plants

SAMA Maschinenbau GmbH (Weissenstadt, Germany) will present two major new systems for the ceramic tableware sector at Ceramitec, taking place from 16-20 September in Munich.

The LPP 1-45/UPR consists of a large horizontal flatware isostatic press which permits articles with a projected surface area of up to around 1600 square centimetres to be pressed isostatically. Item diameters range up to 45cm or, alternatively, the corresponding geometry within the known unit of square measure: e.g. rectangular to 50cm by 30cm.

An integral part of the plant is a position recognition system whereby via a video camera the information is collated and transferred to the three integrated fettling robots to enable an optimum fettling result. Each robot station is self-sufficient and completely finishes the respective article. The need to transfer from station to station is therefore eliminated and a degree of precision of 0.05mm is achieved, adds SAMA.

A foot wiping and polishing device completes this production unit which, dependent on the size and geometry of the ware, has an output of approximately 250 to 450 pieces of large flatware per hour.

The second innovation - the TDA 50 - is a cup pressure casting plant which comprises a closing device for a four-piece mould suitable for the production of cup bodies which include the handle.

The plant is said to be suitable for cup shapes with a relatively solid handle, such as those used in hotelware. As a result, the gap has been filled since the existing SAMA systems involve the separate production of the cup bodies and handles and, in particular, for delicate cup bodies and handles as already supplied to Royal Doulton in England for the very complicated cup body with a foot and non-rotational symmetry.
