RAK's Sanitaryware Expansion in United Arab Emirates Nears Completion

Plans to expand output capacity and increase the level of production cycle automation of the sanitaryware unit at the giant RAK Ceramics complex (Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates) are now nearing completion.

The second half of 2003 will see the installation of a new AVE 040 high pressure WC casting unit; two high pressure casting benches for wash basins and pedestals; and an SSK 440/170-9 shuttle kiln for firing and refiring (total effective volume 88.65 cubic metres).

Already, the first half of this year has seen the installation of an SSK kiln of the same type and two high pressure wash basin casting benches, yielding excellent results in terms of both productivity and quality.

Consequently - and in the light of RAK's marketing success - the expansion project continues and is now expected to continue over the coming years. The company has collaborated closely with supplier Sacmi Whiteware.

RAK is also pushing ahead with the start-up of its new sanitaryware production plant in Bangladesh which is expected to begin production - with an initial run of 200,000 pieces per annum - in October 2003. This plant has been fully constructed using Sacmi machines and employs the same technological solutions that were installed in the Ras Al Khaimah complex.
