QUALICER 2004 Technical Committee Starts Work

The technical committee overseeing the biennial QUALICER meeting says that to ensure its future growth and development, the ceramic sector needs to be studied in all its complexity, from every angle. In-depth analysis is required of competing materials - marble, natural stone, glass, plastics and wood in the case of tiles with which the committee concerns itself - to ascertain their evolution in the market and, from this vantage point, take measures to assure ceramic tile leadership.

QUALICER has a tradition of bringing together all the players involved in this sector: raw materials suppliers, ceramic floor and wall tile manufacturers, colour and glaze producers, machinery builders, third-fire product manufacturers, tile use and installation supervisors, and merchants. At the 2004 meeting, QUALICER will continue debating the future of ceramic tile, focusing not only on the technicians, but also on businessmen and company directors.

Besides building on the work of previous meetings, QUALICER 2004 aims to foster aspects relating to ceramic tile distribution. Thus, the meeting will include other tile-related issues in its striving for continuous improvement, keeping abreast of the latest developments and offering a quality programme.

The new QUALICER 2004 Technical Committee line-up was presented in June. The independence that this committee has enjoyed from the outset has, it emphasises, been critical to the prestige achieved by the congress world-wide. The committee is in the process of evaluating the 130 summaries received to date for QUALICER 2004.
