Malvern Enters Strategic Alliance in Particle Measurement Field
Malvern Instruments Ltd (Malvern, England) and Pharma Vision Systems AB (Lund, Sweden) have entered into a strategic alliance that encompasses an exclusive distribution agreement for Malvern Instruments, collaboration between the two companies on future product development and the implementation of a joint strategy aimed at solving particle processing problems in the pharmaceutical industry.
The alliance provides Malvern with exclusive distribution rights for the PharmaVision 830, an automated image analysis based particle characterisation system developed by Pharma Vision Systems. This has been developed primarily to support the pharmaceutical industry in defining key quality parameters for materials used in formulations. It is said to offer advantages over traditional particle analysis methodologies by examining shape as well as size in dry powders, allowing better characterisation of blends as well as pure samples.
