New Ceramic Industry Agency for Orthos
Orthos (Engineering) Ltd (Market Harborough, Leics, England) has been awarded the UK agency by Vicentini SpA (Cavazzale, VI, Italy). Vicentini, established for many years in the ceramic industry, specialises in the design and manufacture of equipment for the production of tableware, undercut items such as pots and vases, art ceramics, sanitaryware, tiles and technical ceramics.
The company offers a complete range of machines covering all aspects of body preparation, clay forming, drying, finishing and glazing. It also offers plant for the manufacture of plaster moulds. The company states that it currently manufactures about 150 different models of machine and that its equipment is in use with over 3,000 customers world-wide. Vicentini has already installed plants in Britain and now plans, in partnership with Orthos, who are well established in the refractory and ceramic industry, to increase its presence in the UK market.
One of Vicentini's particular strengths, says the company, is its ability to design and supply completely automatic plant comprising clay feeder, shaping unit, conveyor, dryer, transfer equipment and finishing machine for the production of tableware. Capacities extend up to 1200 pieces per hour in the case, for instance, of the automatic cup line, which is said to be very versatile and easily adapted to produce saucers and bowls up to a diameter of 165mm.
