Royal Mosa Expands Floor Tile Production

Leading Dutch ceramic floor and wall tile producer Royal Mosa BV (Maastricht, Holland) is extending its porcelain floor tile range and is investing to, at the same time, achieve even higher technical standards.

In order to achieve this goal, the company has chosen Sacmi firing and drying systems, tried and tested through years of mutually rewarding teamwork. To dry the new range of extra-large products - characterised by high-thickness 900mm x 900mm and 600mm x 1200mm tile formats - Sacmi specially designed a new dryer with three independent temperature/humidity adjustment zones and timed flow inversion.

The products will be fired in a high temperature, single-channel FMS285 kiln - which is 90.3 metres in length - featuring a fibre vault that allows for the reduction of standby temperature at the weekend. It also incorporates a cutting edge power/control panel of the Sailor - PC2M2 type. This features two independent monitor-PC systems with cascade interfacing provided by PRAKTICO and TUTOR.

PRAKTICO is for control of firing recipes and all process guidance and functions, while TUTOR is for the supervision, communication and handling of stored data.

This latest investment at Royal Mosa will boost the company's floor tile capacity by around 1.5 million sq.m. per annum.
