Morgan Offers PBN Solutions

Morgan Advanced Ceramics, a leading supplier of innovative ceramic solutions for a range of user markets, is offering 'PerformancePBN', a pyrolytic boron nitride. Said to be ideal for the semiconductor and microwave industries, it can be used in high temperature furnace and electrical components, microwave and semiconductor components. It is also suitable for use in industry standardised crucibles for gallenium arsenide crystal production via the Liquid Encapsulated Czrochralski (LEC) or the Vertical Gradient Freeze (VGF) methods.

PerformancePBN is said to sustain good thermal conductivity, high insulation resistance and high dielectric strength over wide temperature ranges. It is intrinsically pure and possesses superior mechanical strength and thermal stability. As one of the leaders in 'Loss Mandrel' pyrolytic boron nitride shapes, Morgan Advanced Ceramics has pioneered PerformancePBN for use in high performance effusion cell hardware.

PerformancePBN is created during the high temperature chemical vapour deposition process. The CVD process uses gaseous compounds as precursors to a chemical reaction that takes place at elevated temperatures and reduced pressures, typically on graphite surfaces. The resulting product is a solid with intrinsically pure characteristics. This slow and deliberate process is required to develop pyrolytic boron nitride materials.
