Korean Award for Thermal Ceramics' Superwool Manufacturing Site

Thermal Ceramics, a world leader in high temperature insulation, has continued with the successful manufacturing expansion of its patented Superwool® technology and is receiving noteworthy attention from industry, energy and environmental experts. The most recent award winning manufacturing site is Thermal Ceramics Korea, located in Daegu, South Korea.

“The patented Superwool 607® range of products are gaining worldwide attention as the next generation, energy efficient, 'green' insulation, safely replacing asbestos and mineral wools,” said the company. Thermal Ceramics Korea began manufacturing the low bio-persistent, environmentally friendly Superwool 607 product range in 2006, becoming Korea's first and only manufacturer of patented, bio-soluble insulation.

For this achievement, the site was awarded the 'Green Energy Company Award' in the construction materials category. This award is organised by the Korean National Press (The Korea Daily) with official backing from the Korean Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, the Korean Ministry of Environment and the Korea Energy Management Corp. Thermal Ceramics Korea received this award in recognition of its great contribution to the energy innovation and environmental conservation of Korea.

Thermal Ceramics Korea began operations in 1991, manufacturing Pyro-Bloc® modules, followed by the manufacture of Kaowool® Blankets. Spun fibre technology was added in 2005, allowing for improved blanket tensile strength and quality. In addition to the Superwool 607 and Superwool 607 Plus products, other product offerings include Cerablanket®, Cerachem® Blanket and Vacuum Formed Boards and Shapes.

Typical applications for Thermal Ceramics' products can be found in such industries as automotive, OEM, marine and fire protection, petrochemical (HRSG), iron & steel and ceramics.
