CERAM & HuaXia Laboratory sign Approval Agreement

CERAM is pleased to announce that the new HuaXia Laboratory in Guangdong Province in China has signed up to the CERAM Laboratory Approval Agreement. The approval scheme transfers CERAM testing abilities to laboratories in areas of ceramic production where items are exported to the UK. Such laboratories are required by retailers and importers sourcing items in the Far East. This will be the third laboratory to join the scheme, the others being CRC in Malaysia and MTEC in Thailand. This Agreement is particularly significant both geographically and in the scope of work covered.

Guangdong Province is a rapidly growing production area and produces numerous goods for export, notably sports equipment. It is also a major ceramic production area and a whole town including these new laboratories has been created to serve that production. The laboratory is strongly linked with JingDeZhen Ceramic Institute, and JingDeZhen which was a major Imperial china production area during the Qing dynasty. Eventually via its satellite laboratories the HuaXia Laboratory will cover all of China (excluding Taiwan, Macao and Hong Kong).

Unlike the previous approved laboratories, the approval is not mainly for tabletop testing but also includes sanitaryware, tiles and raw materials. CERAM will welcome six of their staff for training during September and October this year and the official launch will be held in conjunction with the ceramic exhibition in Guangzhou, in November where CERAM will have a stand.

CERAM looks forward to a profitable and successful relationship with the HuaXia Laboratory. The testing agreement will be the first of a series of co-operation agreements between the two organisations.
