Handbook of Materials Selection

John Wiley & Sons Ltd (Chichester, West Sussex, England) has announced the publication this month of the 'Handbook of Materials Selection', edited by Myer Kutz.

It is described as a practical collection of expertise to help engineers determine what materials they might specify, order and use to make something. Providing information and insight that can be employed in any discipline or industry, the book encompasses the full range of materials in use today - metals, plastics, ceramics and composites.

Wiley says that this handbook is the first single volume source to classify materials and their properties by the type of engineering application needed and, in a second section, classify materials by their properties. It adds that this format makes the handbook the first and most useful single source reference for quickly and easily finding applications for manufactured materials and their suitability to a given design need.

The book is a hardback volume with ISBN 0-471-35924-6 and costs £167.

A sample chapter and list of contents can be viewed on Wiley's web site: www.wileyeurope.com
