UK Gifts and Houseware

Around almost half of all UK Gifts & Houseware companies will not be able to afford next year's salary increases. That's the claim from the latest Plimsoll Portfolio Analysis: Gifts & Houseware, Autumn Edition, 2000.

Plimsoll's latest analysis studied industry salaries against a company's ability to pay. They found 251 companies that if faced with rising costs, set against zero sales growth, are heading for problems. The implications are serious and companies must question whether they can allow this to happen.

The analysis predicts that average salaries are likely to rise to £17,300 up from £16,600 next year, a 3.8% rise. This may sound like good news to some but the warning is clear, if you are considering changing jobs or reviewing your options take a good look before you leap.
