dmc2 intends to merge its worldwide construction ceramics business into one new global company

dmc2 intends to merge all its construction ceramics activities into a new global organization to be named Cerdec Ceramics (CC). Cerdec Ceramics would be one of the leading suppliers of glaze systems, stains, additives and decoration products to the construction ceramics industry. So far the responsibility for this business sector had been with several dmc2 divisions. The intended merger allows CC to concentrate fully on the demands of its customers and offers the opportunity for further growth.

The responsibility for this project has been delegated to Andreas Wagner, member of the executive board of dmc2. "The stringent orientation on the construction ceramics customers will be the key for the further expansion of our organization", says Wagner, "our production capacities in all regions are currently being expanded to participate in the impressive growth of the market."

dmc2 will be the major shareholder after the foundation of Cerdec Ceramics and intends to develop the company dynamically by incorporating new shareholders with strategic interest in this field. The concept of Cerdec Ceramics enables dmc2 and the new company to make full use of synergies between CC and the dmc2 division Performance Pigments and Colors, for example the bilateral supply of speciality stains or technological synergies in production and product development.

dmc2 is a manufacturer of functional materials for high-tech applications in the field of information technology and telecommunication, electronics and sensoric as well as in pharmaceuticals, chemicals and environmental technologies. The foundation of Cerdec Ceramics represents a further step of dmc2's focus on its high-tech activities. In 1999 dmc2 achieved a turnover of Euro 700 Mio (including precious metals Euro 4 Billion) with about 5,300 employees worldwide.
