Allied Mineral Products Develops Dry Holding System for Diecasters

Industrial Heating (www.industrialheating.com) reports that Allied Mineral Products Inc (Columbus, OH, USA) has formed an engineering partnership with American Precast Refractories Division to develop a completely dry holding system for the aluminium diecasting industry.

The system uses a precast, prefired monolithic shape backed by Allied Minerals' DRI-LITE (r) refractory technology. The shape creates a nonwetting hot face surface supported by a DRI-LITE back-up lining.

The system is said to dramatically reduce hydrogen pick-up in alloys and it speeds turnaround time because minimal dry-out is needed.
