Degussa-Hüls AG Increases Prices of Fumed Silica and Special Oxides
After having increased the prices for its fumed silicas and special oxides by 5 percent in the NAFTA region in May 2000. Degussa-Hüls is now announcing a price increase for all other regions worldwide as well.
Effective October 1st, 2000 the prices for Aerosil standard grades will be raised by 6 percent. Reasons for this price adjustment are a significant increase in cost of raw materials, wages and salaries, freight and environmental protection measures, which leads to a noticeable decline in the margins of this business.
For the special oxides the price increase will be above the 6 percent mark. For these products research and development efforts and expenditures are generally higher.
Degussa-Hüls is the world wide leading manufacturer of fumed silicas, which have an extremely wide range of applications. The silicone, plastics and coatings industries are among the largest users.
