New Decoration Machine from data M

A new type of decoration machine for direct or indirect decoration has been developed by data M Engineering GmbH (Valley/Oberlaindern, Germany) - designated the COPRA DecalApplicator. A heat release decoration machine for tableware has recently been put into operation at the Spanish producer PORVASAL SA at its Chiva, Valencia plant.

The machine is said to allow for the use of 'kiss fit' decals instead of the usual square cut decals, thus creating the opportunity for better sheet fills. In combination with the machine's six-axis control unit, the vision system allows the transfer pad to compensate for misshaped or misaligned ware.

The six-axis hexapod robot system allows for a completely free movement of the printing pad. Thus, even non-symmetrical or elliptical ware can be decorated. The integrated CNC control enables a fully automatic process and a connection to production control systems to be achieved.

At PORVASAL, a scanning unit - also developed and supplied by data M - has been linked to the heat release machine. This is designed to reject any ware that is not suitable for decoration.
