Brampton Brick Increases Sales and Income
Brampton Brick Ltd (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) - Canada's second largest manufacturer of clay brick - said that net income for the second quarter 2004 was CAN$6.999 million compared to (restated) net income in the same period of 2003 of CAN$6.622 million. This was achieved on net sales of CAN$34.787 million which, due to the strength of higher volumes in all the company's three business segments, rose from last year's figure of CAN$32.907 million.Figures for the first six months of the year showed net income at CAN$9.553 compared to a (restated) net income in the first half of 2003 of CAN$7.452 million. Net sales in the first half this year rose by 10.2% over the comparable period in 2003, to CAN$54.958 million. Operating income before interest and other items improved by CAN$2.710 million to CAN$14.077 million. The improvement is attributable to higher volumes and also the impact on last year's operating results of the kiln improvement project undertaken in the first quarter of 2003.
