AVX Corporation Receives Corporate Environmental Achievement Award

AVX Corporation (Myrtle Beach, SC, USA) has received the Corporate Environmental Achievement Award (CEAA) from the American Ceramic Society (ACerS). AVX was selected along with only one other company in 2004 to receive the CEAA, the company having taken severe critical steps to ensure environmental awareness within its manufacturing process.

"As a worldwide technology leader, we feel an obligation to set the standard in environmental awareness and respect," said Craig Hunter, AVX Strategic Marketing Manager. "It is a great honor to be acknowledged for innovative environmental solutions in the field by such a respected organization as the American Ceramic Society."

AVX Corp has implemented Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures to conform to ISO 14001 standards and regulatory requirements. The project that attracted the ACerS' attention dealt with controlling volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from the new multilayer ceramic capacitor manufacturing facility.

A modified Environmental C&C Absorber/Desorber system was selected to successfully trap and remove 95%-99% of the VOCs.
