AUSTCERAM 2002 Announced

It has been announced that the next biennial national technical ceramic conference and trade exhibition - AUSTCERAM 2002 - will take place from 29 September to 4 October 2002 at the East Perth Campus of Central TAFE in Western Australia.

This long established event is presented under the auspices of the Australasian Ceramic Society (ACS). The theme for next year's conference, 'High Technology for High Performance', recognises that ceramic technology has developed with the help of input from both scientists and industrialists.

The Society's president, Cathy Inglis, said: "The conference will bring together ceramists from both sectors in a forum which will explore new technology as a bridge between these applications. In keeping with this theme, the ACS has incorporated the Industrial Minerals Centre Australia (IMCA) into the conference programme. While the ACS and IMCA will conduct their programmes on separate days, there will be a full session dedicated to a combined programme which will draw together the common interests of the two groups."

The trade exhibit which sits alongside the conference usually takes in around 30 stands. It is reported in the Australian press that the likely cost for each exhibitor will be set at around A$1,350.
