VitrA's New Plant in Ireland Inaugurated

VitrA's new plant in Arklow in the Republic of Ireland - at the existing VitrA Ireland Ltd site - was inaugurated on 31 March 2005. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Eczacibasi Group CEO Dr Erdal Karamercan noted that the plant in Ireland, first established in Arklow in 1998, had raised the overall capacity of VitrA Ceramic Tiles to 22 million sq.m. per annum and he said: "Our investment in Ireland represents a vital step towards our goal of making VitrA a world leader".

The new plant is a response to the capacity increase and modernisation requirements of the company's growing market share and raises the total value of its investments in Ireland to US$20 million and its production capacity there to 1.75 million sq.m. per annum.

VitrA Ceramic Tiles is a member of the Eczacibasi Building Materials Division which manufactures and markets under the VitrA brand everything needed for complete bathroom solutions, from tiles to bathtubs, ceramic sanitaryware to accessories, sanitary fittings to bathroom furniture. Established in 1991, VitrA Ceramic Tiles ranks among the top ceramic tile producers in Europe with its three modern plants in Bozuyuk and Tuzla (Turkey) and Arklow in Ireland. Through the establishment of new facilities in Russia and Turkey, VitrA Ceramic Tiles plans to raise its capacity to 26 million sq.m. in 2006.
