Interim Victory Allows LTD Ceramics to Continue Serving Customers

LTD Ceramics Inc (Newark, CA, USA), a manufacturer of technical ceramic materials and components, announced on 4 April 2002 that Applied Materials had failed in its attempt to obtain a preliminary injunction against the company.

The motion for injunction filed in January 2002 - and heard by the United States District Court on 19 March 2002 - sought to prevent LTD Ceramics from manufacturing or selling a wide array of component parts that are used in semiconductor fabrication equipment.

The Court's denial of Applied Materials' motion will allow LTD Ceramics to continue to conduct its business and serve its customers' needs, said the company.

"We are very pleased by the Court's denial of Applied Materials' motion for injunction," added LTD President Mladen Vukic, "as we believe the court's decision is a victory for free competition. LTD Ceramics had has a 15-year, mutually beneficial relationship with Applied Materials, which was unfortunately discontinued. Our track record is well recognized by the industry, and Applied Materials' unsuccessful attempt to obtain an injunction sends a strong message to both the industry and to our customers."

LTD Ceramics specialises in high quality, fast turnaround, cost effective, technology driven ceramic products. The company says that it "strives to find and perfect streamlined manufacturing systems, which reduce costs, cut lead times, and improve component reliability for end users".
