Tecnargilla Fully Booked; Kromatech to Spin Off as Annual Event

With six months to go, Tecnargilla 2002 (18th International Exhibition of Technology and Supplied for the Ceramic and Brick Industries, Rimini, Italy, 1-5 October 2002) has already set its first record. The entire exhibit area in the new Rimini trade fair centre - a total of 12 halls extending over 85,000 square metres gross - has been entirely filled.

This represents a massive 21.4% increase over the already positive 1999 show when 70,000 square metres gross was available in Verona. The organisers say that they are not ruling out the idea of creating a waiting list if they receive further applications during the coming months. Good news for future events is the Rimini Fiera extension project, which will bring an increase in space from 85,000 sq.m. gross to more than 120,000 sq.m. gross by 2007.

This year's event will host large numbers of new exhibitors, including 121 companies taking part in Tecnargilla for the first time and who will occupy 15% of the total net assigned area.

Many of these new exhibitors will participate in the new section, Kromatech, a showcase of solutions for improving the aesthetic appearance of ceramic products. The organisers have just announced that following its launch as part of Tecnargilla this year, Kromatech will now be held annually as an independent show in Rimini. In the years when Tecnargilla also takes place, the two shows will be held concurrently. The company categories taking part in Kromatech include colour and glaze manufacturers; third fire decorators; graphic, artistic and design consulting studios; screen printing laboratories; suppliers of printing screens; and producers of raw materials for glazes.

Aside from this area, the organisers say that there will generally be greater representation for all sectors of the ceramic industry at Tecnargilla 2002. Alongside the larger number of companies supplying ceramic tile production technology at the show, the other segments of the ceramic industry - namely sanitaryware, tableware, refractories and heavy clay products - will also have their supply sectors well represented. The 70 brick and roof tile machinery manufacturers will as usual be hosted in a specific exhibit area with a space of 6,000 square metres net - 50% more than in 1999.

Another feature of this year's event will be 'The Future of Ceramic' - sited in Rimini Fiera's central hall - which will host a gallery of ceramic product and process innovations. The exhibitors at Tecnargilla and Kromatech will be presenting their interpretations of 'The Future of Ceramic' theme, with about 30 proposals developed in their R&D centres. To underline how innovation in the field of ceramics often begin with technology and raw materials suppliers, data sheets with illustrations and captions will be placed alongside each tile, prototype or other ceramic product describing the technological processes used to create the displayed product.
