Saudi Tile Producers Announce Expansion Plans

An established player in the field, Saudi Ceramic Co, and building materials group Kab Holding have both announced plans for expansion in the area of ceramic tile production in Saudi Arabia.

Kab Holding (Jeddah) - an important player in the construction and sanitaryware fields - has decided to diversify its activities by purchasing a complete tile production plant. This new line, which will be built by Sacmi, will produce glazed granito and monoporosa tile and will have a total output capacity of 18,000 square metres per day.

The plant will have three MTC054 continuous mills with alumina grinding media; two ATM65 spray dryers; two PH2800 presses; a PH3590 press; FMS2500 kilns; and automatic sorting systems. Kab is the first Arab producer to be equipped with a plant capable of working a continuous, storage-free cycle.

Meanwhile, during the next quarter, Sacmi will supply Saudi Ceramic Co - Saudi Arabia's biggest tile producer - with two new lines for the production of small and large tiles, with capacities of 3,000 sq.m. per day and 20,000 sq.m. per day respectively. These new plants will boost the company's overall output capacity to 40,000 sq.m. per day.

The choice of the machines was dictated by a need for modern, specific plant engineering solutions. The various units being supplied include an MTC070 continuous mill; a PH1000 press; three PH2090 presses; two PH4800 presses; two FMS2850 kilns; and a Twin Press decoration system.

Saudi Ceramic aims to use this investment to reinforce its standing in the Saudi market through greater diversification of aesthetics and product type.
