Sacmi MD Designated President of Acimac

The Managing Director of Sacmi Imola will formally be elected as the new President of Acimac on the 13 June 2008 during the association's annual assembly. He will remain in office for four years and will be the sixth president in Acimac’s history.

Acting on a proposal from the Designation Committee, the executive council of Acimac (Association of Italian Manufacturers of Machinery and Equipment for the Ceramics industry), meeting on 19 March, designated Pietro Cassani as the association’s upcoming president for the 2008-2012 quadrennial.

Pietro Cassani is the Managing Director of Sacmi Imola, the largest company in the machinery for ceramics sector, which provides an Acimac president for the first time. Before this, Sig Cassini was Managing Director of Sacmi’s Whiteware division for two years and, before that, was Chief Executive and Managing Director of System in Fiorano Modenese.

From 2000 to 2003 he was on the board of directors of Ceramiche Atlas Concorde in Spezzano (Modena). Born in Imola, the next Acimac president qualified with honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bologna and then did a Masters in Business Administration in the SDA Bocconi business school in Milan, before beginning his career with Sacmi Imola, where he was an area manager from 1995 to 1999.

“The designation of a young, brilliant and highly capable manager like Pietro Cassani,” explained Fausto Tarozzi, spokesman for the Designation Committee, “met with the approval of numerous association members and with the entire Executive Council, which assented unanimously. This prestigious designation underlines Acimac’s strength and cohesion as an association capable of promoting dialogue and collaboration between large, medium and small companies that are united by a shared desire to offer innovative cutting-edge technologies to the global market.”

At the next meeting of the Executive Council the President Designate will present the programme which he intends to follow during his mandate. His formal election will take place during the next Annual General Assembly of Members in the Acimac headquarters in Baggiovara (Modena), on 13 June.

Pietro Cassani will be Acimac’s sixth president. His predecessors are: Pierluigi Ponzoni (Lema, from 2004 to 2008); Franco Stefani (System, from 2000 to 2004); Ivanno Ligabue (LB, from 1996 to 2000); the late Mauro Poppi (from 1992 to 1996) and Fausto Tarozzi (SITI-B&T, from 1988 to 1992).
