Precision Enhanced Coatings from Morgan

Morgan Advanced Ceramics has introduced surface-engineered coatings
delivering anti-wetting properties to its range of ceramics used in
microarray analysis of DNA and proteins.

These amorphous coatings provide hydrophobic/hydrophilic characteristics,
enhanced electrical resistivity and improved wear resistance over plain
counterparts. They complement Morgan's zirconia toughened alumina,
machinable glass ceramic and high purity alumina components, all of which
offer essential chemical inertness, resistance to protein binding and
optimum optical properties.

As well as light coloured ceramics, Morgan produces photo-attenuating
materials that are said to be particularly ideal for microarrays because
they do not reflect light or interfere with the tracking of fluorescence.

Morgan microarray products are manufactured under ISO 9002 conditions, can
be readily customised at low cost and are 100% traceable, adds the company.
