Ponzoni Designated Chairman of Acimac

Acimac, the Italian Ceramic Plant & Machinery Manufacturers' Association, has designated Pierluigi Ponzoni as the association's new Chairman for the four-year term 2004-2008 following a proposal by the Designation Committee.

Pierluigi Ponzoni is Chairman of Lema Srl (Albavilla, Como, Italy), a company founded in 1949 and specialising in the fabrication of moulds and presses for the ceramic industry. Sig Ponzoni has sat on the Acimac Board of Directors since 2001 as 'mould fabricator group' representative.

"The nomination of Pierluigi Ponzoni was approved by numerous members and by the Board of Directors," explained Ivanno Ligabue, Designation Committee spokesman. "His designation emphasises the role of small businesses within our sector and underscores the representative nature of Acimac for the whole of Italy, not just for companies operating in the ceramic cluster." Sig Ponzoni will in fact be the first Acimac Chairman who does not live in the Sassuolo ceramic cluster region.

During the next board meeting in May, the Chairman designate will present the programme that he intends to follow during his term in office and the team of vice chairmen who will work with him. The election will be held during the AGM which takes place in Modena on 4 June 2004. Sig Ponzoni takes over from Franco Stefani, who was elected in 2000.
