Progress Continues at New Polish Porcelain Tile Plant
It is reported that since the ceremony that marked the laying of the foundation stone in September 2008, building work at Staporkow (Konskie, Poland) has continued apace. Renovation and extension of the existing factory building will be completed soon, when machine shipments and assembly work will begin.
Waldemar Dzionek, owner of Valdi Ceramika and already a successful tile dealer in Poland, decided to entrust the design and execution of the new ceramic plant to Sacmi (Imola, BO, Italy). The core of that plant will be the Continua line, accompanied by a high-tonnage PH7500 press, designed to produce top-of-the-range porcelain tiles as large as 1200mm x 1200mm.
In this initial phase, two single-layer Pulsar kilns (over 115m long, 2950mm wide infeed) will be installed; they will be equipped with cutting-edge, high efficiency heat recovery systems. In addition to the Continua line, the kilns will be fed by a PH5000XXL press, which offers outstanding output capacity for medium to large tiles.
Sacmi will be providing this new Polish factory with all the main machines for the ceramic-making process: raw material batching, clay blunging, continuous grinding, spray drying, pressing, cutting, drying and firing. A particularly extensive set of devices is incorporated on the Continua line: there are flake and micronised powder batchers, dry and wet application units and a space for the future installation of new accessories that will boost the creative capacity of the line.
With top-rate management and a brand new, highly efficient machine pool, Poland confirms its status as a strategically important market for Sacmi and a key player in the international ceramic industry.
