Three New Sacmi Kilns Come On-line at Pamesa
The Pamesa Group recently started up three new Sacmi-made kilns of the FMS2950 type, 119.7 metres, 111.3 metres and 109.2 metres long respectively. Two of these were installed at Pamesa's main production plant – located in Almazora (Castellón, Spain) – and will be used to produce ceramic floor tiles, while the third kiln has been installed in the subsidiary Compacglass, which produces decorative wall tiles, the classic 'azulejos' that are highly popular on the Iberian peninsula.
Pamesa Cerámica has been supplying the wall and floor tile market since 1972: over 30 years of success that has resulted in the group's international expansion. Pamesa now has branches in Brazil and the USA, output capacity is nearing the record figure of 23 million square metres a year and the three warehouses can house 65,000 pallets. Furthermore, performance - both qualitative and quantitative - will soon be enhanced even further thanks to this latest contribution from Sacmi, which will also have positive effects on environmental impact and energy savings.
These new kilns, in fact, are largely characterised by their impressive infeed width (2.71m), which raises the absoluter number of tiles entering the kiln – even those of larger size – and gives greater kiln productivity compared to others of the same length. Sacmi also notes that these three kilns were designed using innovative energy saving techniques: for example, inverters are installed on all the fans, thus containing energy consumption and a hot air recovery system recuperates heat from the cooling zone– the MDR system – to minimise gas consumption.
These three latest machines raise the total number of Sacmi-made kilns installed over the last four years in companies belonging to the Pamesa Group to six.
