Nabaltec Registers Sharp Increase in Revenue and Earnings

Nabaltec AG (Schwandorf, Germany), a leading supplier of mineral-based flame retardants and materials for technical ceramics, has presented its 2006 financial statements which show an improvement in consolidated revenue from €61.3 million to €71.6 million, or 16.8%, as the company's revenue growth once again exceeded the overall market growth rate. Both of the company's divisions contributed to its growth, as the revenue in the Functional Fillers division rose by 19% and the Technical Ceramics division reported an improvement of 10%.

Nabaltec Group's growth is also reflected in its earnings: the group's EBITDA rose sharply, from €5.4 million to €6.6 million and a significant improvement was registered in EBIT which increased from €2.9 million to €4.0 million. Group earnings after minority interests came to -€0.2 million in the past financial year (previous year: €1.1 million) due to the necessary expenditures in connection with the launch of the 'Nashtec' joint venture in the USA and the cost of the company's IPO in the Entry Standard section of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in November 2006.

Nabaltec expects the success it has experienced in recent years to continue in the current financial year. An important part in this continued success will be played by the new production plant for APYRAL® 40 CD in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA, which was built as part of the Nashtec joint venture. The facility went online at the end of November 2006 and is set to reach 70% capacity in April and full capacity in May. In addition to Nashtec, the company plans to begin production over the course of the year in new facilities for ceramic bodies, reactive aluminium oxides and fine precipitated aluminium hydroxides.
