Ceramic-to-Metal Technology Enhances Medical X-ray Systems

Morgan Advanced Ceramics has announced that it has perfected its
ceramic-to-metal sealing technology in the production of cathode support
assemblies for medical X-ray tubes. Engineered without size restrictions,
these ceramic-to-metal assemblies are described as offering design
flexibility and the availability of upper level builds, enabling cost
savings in customisation.

These assemblies comprise a variety of metals and high purity alumina
providing, says Morgan, outstanding durability with risk of vacuum leaks
substantially reduced. Good thermal shock resistance and electrical
characteristics are said to deliver increased safety margin over
glass-to-metal seals in high power environments.

Morgan Advanced Ceramics, a global business of The Morgan Crucible Co PLC,
operates an X-ray products manufacturing cell to meet the evolving needs of
X-ray system producers. Its X-ray assemblies complement a diverse range of
products for medical investigation, including ceramics for MRI scanners,
lasers, laparoscopic instruments and blood and DNA analysis.
