Newly Amended Standard on Machinery Safety

The British Standards Institution (BSI) has announced a newly amended standard on machinery safety, as follows:

BS EN 60204-1:2006 + Amendment 1:2009
Safety of machinery. Electrical equipment of machines. General requirements

BS EN 60204-1 provides requirements and recommendations relating to the safety of electrical equipment of machines. It includes information on:

- Safety of people and property
- Consistency of control response
- Ease of maintenance.

BS EN 60204-1 now includes an amendment, which affects dates relating to implementation and withdrawal of conflicting standards. The amendment also adds an additional annexe that introduces references to the new Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
