Cost Effective LIMS Brochure
A brochure is available from Quality Systems International (UK) Ltd (Chinnor, Oxon, England) which describes the extensive functionality for the chemical industry available within the company's WinLIMS product. Using experience derived from over 600 installations world-wide, core functionality has been augmented by additional facilities targeted at the chemical industry to provide a comprehensive LIMS solution without the need for extensive custom code.
For example, the 'Formulations' facility not only allows complete definition of a product in terms of raw materials and production steps, but also provides a complete audit trail of the manufacturing process, including QC testing. In-process testing can be defined in terms of methodology and parameter limits and can be used to control corrections made to production batches, all recorded against the formulation.
This approach can also be applied to product development, where the ability to accurately track the iterative processes involved has clear efficiency benefits, states QSI. Similarly, where a customer has requirements that differ from the normal bulk product, special test protocols can be defined and recorded against that unique customer specification.
QSI added that the use of exceptionally flexible interface tools had given WinLIMS the ability to communicate seamlessly with many of the industry standard ERP/MRP systems, including SAP R3, BPCS, MFG/PRO. Prism and JDE.
Other facilities include the ability to record and document hazard data and special handling information against both raw material and products and the ability to generate Certificates of Analysis in customer-specific formats or even as PDF files for use via the internet (with appropriate security).
