Kiln Automation Successes for Lippert

With kiln automation increasingly demonstrating itself as the way for the
future, Lippert GmbH (Pressath, Germany) has just announced the award of two
new contracts for the delivery of what it describes as "powerful
productivity improvement systems all around the kiln".

A Portuguese manufacturer of fine tableware has commissioned Lippert to
deliver a conveying and storage system for a roller kiln. This system will
link the plate press area with the kiln while simultaneously providing a
storage capacity of approximately seven hours. The storage system also
permits a certain degree of sorting, depending on article type.

The second project involves the supply of a fully automatic loading and
unloading system for a German flowerpot manufacturer's already existing
tunnel kiln with table conveyance. This system runs with formation belts
and large-surface suction units.

Thanks to the all-purpose suction plates which will be used in that system,
a variety of different pot sizes and setting patterns can be easily managed
without any need for tool changing. Changes in setting patterns are
performed automatically via bar code scans based on the kiln car bar code
and handling pallet marking for each article number.
