KaMin Announces Energy Surcharge on Kaolin Clay

KaMin LLC (Macon, GA, USA) has announced that it began implementing an energy surcharge on its paper kaolin products effective 1 April 2008, or as contracts permit. This surcharge is being applied to its slurry, dry and calcined kaolin products sold across the world.

“Our kaolin business has been under cost pressure for some time and we have taken proactive steps to increase our operating efficiencies that have offset many of these increases. Nevertheless, kaolin processing continues to be energy intensive and the recent escalation of energy costs including natural gas and oil prices make it necessary to implement these surcharges,” said Doug Carter, Business Director for Paper Kaolin, KaMin LLC.

KaMin LLC is an independent kaolin company formed from the former Kaolin Business Unit of Huber Engineered Materials, part of J M Huber Corporation. The company, which supplies high quality kaolin products to paper and industrial customers world-wide, is headquartered in Macon, GA.

KaMin mines and produces its kaolin exclusively in the USA and sells its products to all regions of the world. It operates three kaolin plants – Macon, Sandersville and Wrens.
