'Golden Max' Ceramic Line from KEMET

KEMET Corporation (Greenville, SC, USA) has just launched two commercial high voltage radial leaded series that include rated voltages from 500Vdc to 3kVdc in C0G and X7R dielectrics. The C3xx High Voltage series is an extension of KEMET's Golden Max Conformally Coated radial components and features standard dimensions and lead configurations. The C6xx High Voltage series offers dimensions and lead configurations per the high voltage military specification, MIL-PRF-49467.

Both series are designed for applications demanding reliability at high voltages, such as military, aerospace, medical, semiconductor manufacturing, power supplies, telecoms, modem and LED backlight inverters.

Commenting on the launch, KEMET President Jim McClintock said: "KEMET's strategic acquisitions have provided the necessary knowledge base to develop and enhance our high voltage and high temperature product offerings. The addition of the Golden Max Leaded High Voltage series expands our ceramic portfolio in accordance with ever-changing customer requirements while maintaining our position as the 'Easy-To-Buy-From' company".

KEMET's high voltage ceramic capacitors use a 'cascading' or 'floating' internal electrode design, which effectively divides the voltage across the device into smaller voltages that each internal section of the capacitor can reliably withstand, thereby enabling high voltage rating capability. These ceramic capacitors include rated voltages from 500V to 3000V in C0G and X7R dielectrics. Both series use tin plated steel lead wires, which are RoHS-compliant.
