New Patent Full-Text Database Available

STN International/FIZ Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe, Germany) has announced that GBFULL - the Great Britain FULL text database - is a service new to STN and covers the full-text of patent applications published in Great Britain. It is said to be an excellent additional source of primary data for English-language prior art searches. About 25% of British applications are not applied for and thus published elsewhere.

Records in the database contain the searchable text of the complete document, including claims and detailed description; patent applicant/assignees and inventors; and patent and priority application data. About 85% of records contain an abstract. Simultaneous left and right truncation is available in the basic index.

The display fields LS (Legal Status) and LS2 (Legal Status, detailed version with display headers) are available. LS and LS2 display the legal status data from the INPADOC database. They are only custom display fields and not included in any predefined format.

The file currently contains more than 395,000 records dating from 1979 to the present time and the database is updated weekly. Automatic current awareness searches (SDIs) may be run weekly or monthly (weekly is the default).

Database Summary Sheets are available at: www.stn-international.de/stndatabases/databases/dbsslist.html
