Technology for 'Fast' Roof Tiles

Sacmi (Imola, BO, Italy) has introduced a technology for the clayware industry that is said to cut roof tile/extruded item production times and reduce the amount of space normally required for installation of traditional dryers and tunnel kilns. Designated 'Espresso Rooftile', it is a system of patented roller kilns and dryers specially designed to fire roof tiles - extruded and re-pressed using traditional methods - and dry them fast.

The system features advanced technology based on uniform ventilation of all product surfaces and step adjustment of on-roller drying stages. Thanks to uniform ventilation, the problems of breakage, alteration and heterogeneity that were so common in the old systems which used lateral ventilation of racked material, have now been eliminated completely says Sacmi.

As regards firing, adds the company, the 1500-plus roller kilns installed all over the world clearly demonstrate that customers see this machine as a high-return investment: each of these turnkey plants is custom manufactured so as to meet each user's needs.
