Further Middle East Expansion in Ceramic Tile

Ceramica Cleopatra, the major Egyptian producer of sanitaryware and tiles, is in the middle of a significant expansion and currently completing the assembly of a new plant at its 'Fancy' factory in Ain Sokha. This investment will increase the company's output capacity to 125,000 sq.m. of tiles per day.

The new plant alone - which will run with five continuous mills, three spray dryers, eight presses, eight horizontal dryers and four kilns - is set to produce 35,000 sq.m. of white glazed and granito floor tiles per day.

The plant is being built by Sacmi and start-up is due soon. Products from the new plant will in part be destined for the top end of the Egyptian market while the rest will be exported to the Eastern market.

Meanwhile, Al Anwar Ceramic Tile Co in Oman has commissioned a floor tile line with a production capacity of 12,000 sq.m. per day of 33cm x 33cm, 40cm x 40cm and 50cm x 50cm formats. Again, Sacmi will be supplying two PH2090 presses, an ECP285/16 horizontal dryer and an FMS2840/140 kiln.

Line assembly is already under way. This additional plant will raise Al Anwar's overall output capacity to 20,000 sq.m. per day.
